History

Summit Christian Academy is a member of an international Christian school system. The Seventh-day Adventist church operates over 7,000 schools worldwide. Seventh-day Adventist education was established in Salt Lake City in the 1920's. For a number of years, the Adventist School was located near South High School on State Street. On June 15, 1927, the church was asked to sell the building so South High School could be enlarged. J.B. Currier, an Adventist pastor in the Salt Lake area during the late 1950's, Donna and Gene Templemann, and many other volunteers, worked with diligence and personal sacrifice to get a new school built for the beginning of the school year in 1957. It started as a two-room school, but quickly expanded to five teachers, and ten grades.

Summit Christian Academy has been operating at this site since 1957. It has provided exceptional education for students for over forty years. Many of our graduates have gone on to take advantage of spectacular educational opportunities and achieved diverse, distinguished careers. It is our pleasure to provide quality education in the Salt Lake Valley.
